The TWA Uniform  2004

My assignment was to "paint an article of clothing that evokes an emotional response."  I chose the TWA uniform and Flight 800 because, at that time, in all my years as a TWA Flight Attendant, nothing equaled the magnitude of that event.

On July 17, 1996 I was working a flight from JFK to Milan. Our plane was parked at the gate next to flight 800. Both flights were delayed. While we waited two deadheading crewmembers from 800 came onboard to visit, flight attendant Jim Hull and first officer Doug Echelman.   I can still see Doug when he left, standing at the R1 door, waving goodbye, saying "Hope you make it! When both of our mechanicals were fixed 800 was cleared to leave but our plane blocked theirs so we left first.   We were at 23,000.'  They were at 13,000.'

This painting is dedicated to the remembrance of the TWA crewmembers and friends lost on that fateful day.
